Windows boarded by someone who's never done carpentry, pews smashed to kindling, stained glass all over the floor. Doru was chained in the cellar under it. The bell in the tower was cracked through as if lightning hit it, and the only footprints up there were the priest's. Remi fixed it. The village still hears bells that aren't coming from here.

Kolyan and Parriwimple are buried in its graveyard. At midnight the bell Remi fixed rang twelve times, and the dead of Barovia rose from between the stones and marched toward the castle.
